Spell's Oh My

First off I want to say that I am not hitting at Witchcraft, some of my students are Witches and Pagans. Orion Foxwood whom I love dearly is a Witch; he is also a Conjure worker who knows the difference between the two. When he does Conjure work that is what he does, he doesn’t mix it up. Just saying.
Now that is cleared up on to my point. CONJURE WORKERS DO NOT CAST SPELLS PERIOD! I am tired of folks e-mailing me asking me to do spell work for them. I’m a Christian I don’t cast spells, I work with my Bible to achieve my goal! I always send them somewhere else if they are looking for Spell work. Folks don’t know the difference between conjure work and spell work because the 2 have been intermingled all over the internet. If you ask a home grown conjure if they are the same you would get the same answer No they are not. Here’s an example.

Sorry Orion darling for using you as an example but you know I love ya kido! The first time I met Orion he claimed to be a Conjure worker. I thought ok let’s see. So I asked him about it and he told me something like this. {When I do Conjure work I work with the God of the Bible; you don’t mix it up}. How did he know that he’s a Witch remember; because he was raised around conjure work that’s how. He knows that they are two different things. He teaches Witchcraft but he also teaches Conjure he doesn’t inter-mingle them he teaches them with honor and respect the way it should be done.

What I am saying is if you are going to do Conjure work or claim to do Conjure work then don’t water it down with other Traditions; those Traditions hold their own power and ways of doing things. It is not fair to any Tradition when folk hack it up, it’s not fast food where you can have it your way! Momma Starr

  1. Of all the blog posts I've written on this I still get people telling me that we are witches, that conjure work is witchcraft. I'm not talking about the Fundamentalist Christians here, but people who LOVE the term witch and feel it empowers them.

This sort of thing really only started since the 1950s and now similar things have happened with vampires. Remember back when monsters were evil? LOL Now all the monsters are good. Witches are good now. Vampires are good now. Werewolves are good now. It's like all our monsters are being transformed into good, solid citizens. LOL

But anyway, I know from personal experience that no matter what I write, and what you write, it won't matter one bit. The people who think they are witches, who are using to the term witch to empower themselves dont' care what anybody writes or has to say. However, ask an old school worker if they are a witch and they will raise the roof with their angrey responce that they are not witches and have nothing to do with witchcraft.

I will repeat this here. The only people who call conjure workers witches are people on the outside, like Fundamentalist Christians who believe what we do is evil. Real, old-school workers do not use the label of witch and are opposed to witchcraft in general because withcraft as always been associated with evil. This association has nothing to do with Christianity itself, as both the Africans and the Indians had no tolerance for witches and KILLED them. In act, I posted a blog entry on a book review I did for the book, "Witchcraft In Early North America". In it is information on how both blacks and Indians viewed witchcraft. So if anyone is interested, check that book out.

Now, I'm going to say this and I know it will piss off people. I don't care. If you want to censor it Momma Starr, so be it. It's your blog. But I need to let people know that Witchcraft has never been a religion. Witchcraft is a craft, a trade, an art, a skill. It's not a religion. The religion is neopaganism. Pagans believed in witches and they feared them and did not tolerate them. The Celts killed witches. The Norse killed witches. The Africans killed witches. The Indians killed witches. They did this without any influence from Christians. In fact I'm going to tell you something that will low your mind! Did you know that many Indians believed that the Catholic priests who came to convert them were witches! Did you know that many priests were murdered by Indians becaused they were believed to be witches! It's because the priests brought disease with them and for Indian, witches are known to cause disease. Witchcraft is not a religion, it's a practice.

So I personally don't care what people call themselves. If people want to call themselves witches, so be it and power to them. However, I'm real tired of people calling conjure workers witches or that we practice witchcraft.

    1. Doc it will be NO censor on this blog. Everyone has a right to say how they feel as long as it is not slanderous, harmful, or hurtful. If any of those things happen then I will step in but I refuse to censor post like others do. Momma Starr

    2. Thanks. I'm the same way on my blog. The only comments I delete are spam comments or comments from underage people posting their contact info. I do that for their safety. If somebody doesn't agree with me, they are happy to comment. I may not reply to it, LOL, but I will never delete it.

  2. It seems like lot people are looking for the "secret formula" or "magic pill". I see on a lot of forums so many requests for spells.
And sometimes we just are asking the wrong questions. I include myself since I consider myself a student. Though i would NEVER presume to send you a request for a "spell". Instead we should try to learn what questions to ask of those who are willing to teach is part of the journey. It's not easy, but I don't want to waste the time of someone I respect and whose knowledge I know is valuable.
A heartfelt thanks to y'all that share with us who are learning please don't let those who refuse to pay attention discourage you. Some of us are listening, though we may be a little hard of hearing at times- speaking for myself again.
I hope you don't mind me saying this, but if folks just read even one of your books they will find more than just a bunch of formulas, they will find lots of great conjure lessons and some really great basic info that can be built upon.

    1. Hi KB, you are right, it is what has been seen on the internet and folks think that is how you ask for work from a Traditional Rootworker. The way to ask for help is to just ask for it. Don't label it or just say I need some help can you do some work for me to help me. Momma Starr

    2. Something that is stunning to me is the number of people online asking things like, "How do I do a D.U.M.E. work on my ex?", "What can I do to make my mother's life a living hell?", "What can I do to sucker this man in giving me everything I want?"... and these amateur, internet workers start giving out advice! No prayer about the issue, no investigating the situation, no cutting cards or reading bones, no consulting spirits, just, "Here you go". Lord have mercy. There is a lot of evil out there in the world folks.

    3. You are so right Lee. I'm no sugary worker and I can and I will do hard work but there is a time for that. Mother's are very special folks and should be treated with love and respect, there are works that can settle them down without harming them. To much dark information is to freely given. Momma Starr

    4. Lee, you are absolutley correct. What gets me is the attitude that it's perfectly normal. "Yeah, I want to do death work on this guy who broke up with me." And then someone will respond with, "What you do is...", like it's perfectly normal. Unfortunately those people are out there.

  3. Hey Momma Starr! I just saw these comments. Thank you! I love you! I love conjure. I am a traditional worker, but I am also a traditional witch. These ways of working are not the same though they both are founded in a world filled with spirits and spiritual power. It is important to keep our practices clear and not compromise either of them...to do so is to strip these powerful practices of their history, their power and the honor of the ancestors that preserved them. There is a saying "how many stripes can a zebra loose before its go longer a zebra". I feel deliciously gluttonous that I have three traditions I can call on...Conjure, Witchcraft and Faery. All three give me so much. I send blessings on your work!
