Hey,
Momma Starr wanted me to share this work on the Old Style Conjure radio show but we didn't have enough time so I am posting a few different ways I was taught to do this work here for y'all pleasure. You'll find the original work on page 131 in the "Old Style Conjure: Working with the Bible" book in the Songs of Soloman section. The Songs of Soloman are very powerful prayers for sweetening work.
During the last radio show we talked about syrup, honey, and the different sweeteners you can use to draw love and sweeten yourself in order to meet the person that is right for you.
As y'all know I am a big fan of working with other sweeteners besides honey especially syrups and powdered sugar because that is the way I was taught. Even though I'm not crazy about honey jars I will work the honey in the best way I can to achieve TOTAL SUCCESS. I was always taught you should never limit yourself especially when doing conjure work and I'm a big believer in that. Use what you have and make it work for you. Like all things in old style conjure work there is a time and place for everything. Honeycomb is one of those special items that has its place in Conjure work.
Honeycomb is one of those power items that works like a double edged sword. I love honeycomb because not only does it draw and sweeten but it also locks down your work. Think about it. Honey comb draws what you need because it's sweet but also nails down your work because the comb is made out of wax. Wax will hold any prayers, roots, herbs or petitions you load into it. Beeswax will hold the work together just like it holds the honey which makes it strong.
The same goes for dirt dauber nest. When you find a dirt dauber nest try to collect it without breaking it apart because like honeycomb that little dirt dauber's nest will hold the power in your prayer petitions, conjure roots, special herbs, and ingredients. Each time you pray over the dirt dauber nest that you've loaded with special ingredients, it will make the power in your work grow stronger with a heavy hand. Your domination work will pack a punch. Of course you'll work this packet somewhat different from the honeycomb but you get the idea.
So now let's talk about the actual work. Take the honeycomb out of a honey jar and spread the comb out on a white plate. Place your personal petitions, photo of yourself, or photo of the target in the middle of the plate with your conjure herbs and roots, prayers, and special ingredients. Fold your prayers, bible verses, and ingredients around your work into a packet. Squeeze the honeycomb together around your love packet to lock it down.
Now you got a strong little conjure packet that you can work as is or incorporate as part of other work. You can place your love packet inside a red bowl full of sugar, herbs, and power roots. Another way to work this packet is to place it inside a jar with syrup and other ingredients. Whenever you need to heat up your work burn a tealight, stick candle, or vigil in the work. These are some of the first sweetening works I was taught by Momma Starr. It truly is old style conjure work that you can stick like honey in a photo packet to any sweet drawing work you need done whether for love, money, prosperity, or total success. Good luck in your sweetening work! Let us know how it turns out...Drlovebug

Petitioning Saint Michael
St Michael Nailing Down the Devil
In my last post I spoke about honoring Saint Michael on his birthday. Here we're going to talk a little about how to petition him. Most folks know he can be petitioned for protection work but Saint Michael can do many things. Since he's called on to put the fiery wall of protection around you we'll get into that.
To do simple fiery wall of protection work write your names, ALL MY LOVED ONES, and a petition in the wax of a red candle. Add your protection herbs and roots and dress the candle with holy oil. Hold the candle to your mouth and ask Saint Michael to protect you. Petition God to place a fiery wall of protection around the family that can't be crossed. Light the fixed red candle on a photo of you and your loved ones.
Everyday state your petition as the candle burns. If using a stick candle burn it in sections for 7 days. On day number 9 place the photo under a statue of Saint Michael. You can also make a small conjure prayer packet of red flannel with the photo, bible verse burnt to ash, and three special ingredients that will lend power to that packet. When you tie up your packet place it under your statue so St Michael will stand on guard. If you have a photo frame place the packet behind the photo.
This work is simple but it brings strong results. If you really want to learn protection work or how to do justice work I highly recommend Starr's mini courses. They are jam packed full of information that you won't find elsewhere. Good luck with petitioning Saint Michael. Drlovebug
Honoring Saint Michael: September 29th
I just want to remind everyone that Saint Michael's day of celebration is September 29th. Any day is good to serve Spirit but it's good to remember your spiritual protectors on their holy days because that's what the saints are. The saints protect your blessings, pray with you when you serve God, and bless you when you most need it. We have to always be thankful to God for what we have but you have to remember his servants too. They work hard when doing God's work and stand by your side.
I honor Saint Michael because he is so special to me. He has helped me found strength in trials that I never thought I had so I give all due credit and thanks to Saint Michael. He is a protector of my family.
You don't have to do a big elaborate setup when you honor the Spirit. If you can give some flowers and a vigil candle do that. If all you got is a tealight then light that tealight to the Spirit. Give whatever you can even if it's just prayer. Give thanks to God and show the Saints how much you love them. Prayer from the heart is the most powerful offering to Spirit.
As you honor the Saints on their holy days that is the perfect time to renew your vows to Spirit. Thank the Saints for their blessings you received during the year and ask them to continue showing favor in your life. Find something to be grateful about because you have a lot of be thankful for even if it's just being alive. I know this is hard sometimes even for me but everyone has something to be grateful about in their lives. Find that and cherish it!
Since I'm writing about Saint Michael let's talk about honoring him. The simplest thing you can do is light a red candle to him dressed with holy oil and pray. Anytime I pray I always start with 3 Our Fathers, 3 Hail Mary's, and a Glory Be with a revocation. Then I say my prayers to Saint Michael and thank him for having my back for the year. I remind Saint Michael that I'll always need him and appreciate his help in my life. This is to show Spirit that I know what Spirit does in my favor and I appreciate it. I always count my blessings as best as I can.
Some saints can be really picky about who they work with but Saint Michael can be petitioned by anyone whose heart is in the right place. If you have never worked with him before but feel called try honoring him on his birthday and see what happens. Drlovebug

The Holy Family & Your Ancestors for Peaceful Home
The Holy Family can be petitioned for any need you have but I'll talk about how to work with them to protect the family right along with your ancestors. I want to mention here that Family (yes with a capital F) is really important to me! I say this because Family is all that you have in the world.
Your foundation begins with the family. Your roots come from your ancestors. This is why it's really important to honor and work with your ancestors. Some workers will tell you that you aren't supposed to work with your dead and that it's only acceptable to honor them but I'll tell you that's a bunch of hogwash. I'm not going to rehash this argument here but I'm making a point.
Because your ancestors are the roots of your tree you have to honor them because you come from them. When you pay respects to your dead you are honoring your roots and your heritage. This is important for everyone especially people of Colour. Regardless of your ethnic background honor your dead people and show them some love because they deserve it. By paying due respect to your ancestors you are honoring your family which leads me to my next point about protecting the family.
Nobody's family is perfect. There'll always be ups and downs but some situations that happen in families are completely uncalled for. That's where conjure work comes in. I'm a big believer in working on the family to make sure everything runs smooth. I will do everything it takes to protect my family because they are an extension of my well-being. I'm sure most of y'all feel the same way.
I used to hesitate a lot when it came to locking down the bs in my family through conjure work. I felt sorry for them because I didn't want to go 'to that level' so to speak. I figured things would work out and I decided to remain in the corner. That's until I had it. Sometimes as a part of protecting your family you have to make a step forward and put your foot down where it won't move.
The most powerful way you can work Conjure to bring peace in the family is by petitioning your ancestors. You don't even have to light a candle or throw together a bunch of roots and herbs. Just a simple call to your Ancestors to get their attention and a strong petition so they can simmer the mess down. I do this when I need an extra hand to manage my kinfolks.
For those of y'all that need something to work with tear out Isaiah 26 V 3 from your bible. Write "PEACE BE STILL" or a similar petition on the Bible verse. Burn the bible verse to ash and load a white vigil candle with the ash. Don't add any names or personal effects to this candle. Light the vigil on your ancestor altar and state the verse out loud with your petition. You'll notice a difference immediately when you petition your ancestors esp in family matters. Here's the verse for your pleasure:
This is really simple and effective. As a part of protecting the family and keeping peace in the home you can also petition the Holy Family. Jesus, Mary, & Joseph make the Holy Family. They are God's example of how a family should love and treat one another. You can petition them to be a model for your loved ones so your home will always be a happy one. Not only will the Holy Family keep a peaceful home but they will also bring prosperity to the home and help you count your blessings.
To petition the Holy Family find a picture that you can work with. If you have the nativity scene with Jesus, Mary, and Joseph in the manger that's perfect for this work! A lot of folks have this in their home as part of Christmas decorations so check your pantry. Hold the picture to your mouth and say your prayers. Ask the Holy Family to protect your loved ones and bring prosperity in the home.
Write your petition and any special prayers for the family on a picture of you and your loved ones. Burn the photo to ash and load the ash into a blue vigil candle. You don't have to use vigils. I like them for different reasons. Dress your candle with olive oil, a power root, and a peaceful herb. To top of your work sprinkle a little powdered sugar on the vigil candle.
Place the Holy Family picture in the living room or kitchen and burn the blue vigil on top of it. You can also prop the photo on the hearth as a decorative piece and burn the vigil next to it. When you start working with the Holy Family you will feel it immediately.
I wish y'all much prosperity, success, and peace in the Home with conjure work. Protect what is yours and lock it down...Drlovebug

Prayer of Daniel
The prayer of Daniel is very powerful because it will make known to you all matters known and unknown. This is the prayer Daniel used when he petitioned God to reveal to him king Nebuchadnezzar's dream and the interpretation.
Daniel 2:20-24
King James Version (KJV)
20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
23 I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.
24 Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.
To reveal all matters known and unknown state this prayer and your petition over a white candle. Light the candle and call on God or your Higher Power to bring you clarity and truth. This prayer is really good to use when you are feeling confused, depressed, or blocked. If folks around you are trying to conceal things or stir up shit in your life work with this prayer. Ask God and the prophet Daniel to open your eyes and provide a way for you out of the situation.
Daniel was very strong as a prophet because he was gifted with sight. God blessed him with the Spirit of revelation. Daniel used this gift to "see" around him and was a revealer of secrets. He can do many things as a prophet and worker but gifts like second sight are his specialty. Drlovebug

Protestant Saints in Hoodoo
I know the title sounds a little funny but it speaks an unspoken truth (pun intended). Most traditional hoodoo workers will tell you in a heartbeat that they don't work with the saints. They may even say it's pagan and might link it to idolatry HOWEVER they do work with the prophets. This is evident in the gospel songs, prayers, and the true old works that you don't hear about anymore....at least as far as the Internet is concerned!!! Now as we all know that will change soon because folks will start to make claims about the prophets. Hmmm...go figure.
So some of y'all are probably saying "Where am I going with this?" Well I'll tell you. Just like the Catholic saints the prophets in Conjure work are extremely powerful. There's Moses, David, Jeremiah, King Soloman, Ezekiel, and many countless others. These spirits are just as much a part of Conjure work as the saints. Heck you can buy supplies left and right that's named or associated with the prophets like King Soloman Wisdom products, Exodus Oil, et cetera. There are even special roots named after the biblical prophets like Soloman Seal root, Sampson Snake root, HIGH JOHN THE CONQUEROR root, just to name a few. Some roots are named after people of power in the Bible who were considered wicked like Jezebel root for example.
The point I'm trying to make is that you always hear about hoodoo products being made related to the prophets and what they're "reputed" to do but NOBODY is talking about how to work with Biblical prophets. The prophets give power to the work so they should be acknowledged. Momma Starr teaches a lot of information about how to work with the prophets in her bible book. As with other things I think this topic should be brought forth and discussed more in detail.
Like the Catholic saints the prophets have an important place in traditional conjure work that should be recognized. The prophets are the "Protestant Saints" of hoodoo, conjure, rootwork after all. Drlovebug

The Two Greatest Commandments
Matthew 22:35-40
King James Version (KJV)
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
The two commandments above that Jesus spoke are the most important in Conjure work. First you have to love God with all your heart because God is love. God is joy. When you are dealing with the Higher Power you have to give your all to God because that is where the power comes from.
After you consecrate yourself to God and you let Spirit move in your life you must share that love with others who need it. This is what's missing in Hoodoo on the Internet. Some online workers are too busy trying to make money and cash out on desperate folks troubles.
There are some people who need help that can't afford to have work done. I compare "some" of these folks (only some!!!) to a homeless person needing a little food and water. Will you turn down a hungry mouth? I know I never would. As spiritually minded people we need to get back to that mentality and learn to love our neighbors as well as ourselves. God is love and love is meant to be shared with others.
This applies to all areas of our lives including Conjure Work. Just some food for thought...Drlovebug

This means you have to read the bible with "open" eyes. This is an aspect of true Conjure work that's not talked about nor discussed on the Internet. Most online hoodoos know about the saints but truth is the vast majority of Conjure workers and root doctors off the Internet do not work with them BUT these same Protestant hoodoos do work with the prophets which is right there in the Bible.
Tune into this show as Momma Starr & Drlovebug talk about the prophets who are considered the "Protestant saints" of traditional old style conjure hoodoo rootwork. God Bless You All. Momma Starr

The Walls of Jericho
The Walls of Jericho
There are times when people try to keep us from success and having the fruitful life we should have. Sometimes it gets so bad until every door that we try to open is closed. The old folks used to say Money is the root of all evil; but in today’s time I think Jealousy is the root of all evil. For the life of me I don’t understand why people have the need to try and keep others down. We are each entitled to our own blessings. At our birth’s we are promised fruitful lives. We hold the key to our own destinies, but there are times when folks try to interfere with the good things that God has for us. Sometimes we build are and will our own walls with feelings being inadequate, low it spirit, low self-esteem, and in all about feel of be unworthy.
If you find yourself in a situation where everything you try to do is blocked, then this work will bust down those walls that have been put there to block your way. There is more than enough to go around. It is our job to make sure that we get everything and every blessing that we are meant to have. Just like in the Bible the walls of Jericho were tore down, by reading Joshua six you can tear down the walls that block you. This work is done in many southern churches at certain times of the year. Prayer is a very powerful thing, and if you believe in prayer anything is possible. I’m sure that some of you may already know this work; but I think most want. Most folks now days don’t have a clue of the power God’s word holds.
This work takes seven days to do; the first day you will read Joshua 6; seven times. Each day that you do this work you will decrease your prayer by one. Every day you do this work in will become stronger once you were down to one prayer then you are done. At this time you should feel light and refreshed.
When you are ready to do this work you need a small box with a lid on it and a petition you have written. Place the petition in the box and close the lid. This work is usually done by more than one person, the person who is being blessed stands in the center hold that the Bible and the church members go around them. Each person in the church who wants to participate in this takes turn in the circle. If you are doing this by yourself then set the box on the floor. Once you close the lid don’t open it again until the last day. Make sure you have enough room to walk. In church this is called tearing down the walls. Now open your Bible to Joshua 6. When you start reading start walking in a circle around the box, keep walking until you have read Joshua 6 seven times. Then put the box away and do the same thing the next day. Repeat this until you are at your 7th day. After you do the last day; take the petition out and throw it in the river. Save your box; you may need it again sometimes.
Joshua Chapter 6
6:1 Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
6:2 Yahweh said to Joshua, Behold, I have given into your hand Jericho, and the king of it, and the mighty men of valor.
6:3 You shall compass the city, all the men of war, going about the city once. Thus shall you do six days.
6:4 Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark: and the seventh day you shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
6:5 It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.
6:6 Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of Yahweh.
6:7 They said to the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let the armed men pass on before the ark of Yahweh.
6:8 It was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh passed on, and blew the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of Yahweh followed them.
6:9 The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rearward went after the ark, the priests blowing the trumpets as they went.
6:10 Joshua commanded the people, saying, You shall not shout, nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall you shout.
6:11 So he caused the ark of Yahweh to compass the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
6:12 Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of Yahweh.
6:13 The seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of Yahweh went on continually, and blew the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; and the rearward came after the ark of Yahweh, the priests blowing the trumpets as they went.
6:14 The second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.
6:15 It happened on the seventh day, that they rose early at the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on the day they compassed the city seven times.
6:16 It happened at the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, Shout; for Yahweh has given you the city.
6:17 The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is therein, to Yahweh: only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
6:18 But as for you, only keep yourselves from the devoted thing, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so would you make the camp of Israel accursed, and trouble it.
6:19 But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are holy to Yahweh: they shall come into the treasury of Yahweh.
6:20 So the people shouted, and the priests blew the trumpets; and it happened, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
6:21 They utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, and sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.
6:22 Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, Go into the prostitute’s house, and bring out there the woman, and all that she has, as you swore to her.
6:23 The young men the spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brothers, and all that she had; all her relatives also they brought out; and they set them outside of the camp of Israel.
6:24 They burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein; only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of Yahweh.
6:25 But Rahab the prostitute, and her father’s household, and all that she had, did Joshua save alive; and she lived in the midst of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers, whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
6:26 Joshua charged them with an oath at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before Yahweh, that rises up and builds this city Jericho: with the loss of his firstborn shall he lay the foundation of it, and with the loss of his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
6:27 So Yahweh was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land
